Samba's story began in the safest way a rescue kitten's story can begin: he was born under our care, surrounded by warmth, food, and people who wanted nothing more than to protect him. Unlike so many of the cats we rescue from the streets, Samba never had to search for his next meal, hide from danger, or wonder where he would sleep at night.
Yet somehow, he is still waiting.
As the weeks passed, one by one, his brothers and sisters left for their forever homes. We watched families fall in love, applications arrive, and tiny suitcases fill with dreams of new beginnings. Each time, Samba stayed behind, quietly watching as another sibling's happy ending arrived before his own.
Perhaps it is because Samba is not the first kitten to run into the center of attention. He is a thoughtful little soul, the kind who likes to observe before joining in.
