Shash (adopted)

Once upon a time, Sash was bought from a pet shop as a gift for a child. That house was the only world she knew. She grew up there, believing it was her home and that the people around her were her family.

Until one day everything changed.

Her mum (!) brought her to a shelter in Istanbul and said she wanted to leave the cat. She said do whatever you want with her.Then she quickly walked away. Sash sat inside a small box, so frightened that she didn’t even dare to meow. We often think about that moment — what would have happened if we hadn’t been there to see it? She might have become just another lost soul among so many others.

Sash was far too fragile for shelter life. When she arrived at our pension, the presence of so many cats terrified her. She was shy, overwhelmed, and clearly used to the quiet safety of a home. So we made a different decision for her and placed her in a foster home, hoping she could heal in a calmer environment.

For a while, she had that small sense of safety again. But sadly, the foster can no longer keep her, and Sash will soon have to return — to a place that feels overwhelming and scary for a sensitive soul like hers.

Now we hope someone will see what we see: a beautiful, gentle cat who simply wants to belong again. A person who will open their heart and their home, and show Sash that not every goodbye has to last forever.
