About
Zuri
Meet Zuri who is one of the 17 rescues from darkness of Nevsehir Municipality Shelter which is known among the rescuers as one of the harshest in Turkey. Sadly, many locals show little compassion for cats and dogs, making life even harder for the voiceless souls confined there. We’ve been supporting a dedicated local volunteer who does her best to bring light into that darkness.
Recently, she shared something alarming. While walking past a shadowed corner of the shelter—where only dogs are officially kept—she heard faint, pained meows. When she asked the officials, she was told there were “one or two cats under treatment.” But we knew this shelter wasn’t a place for healing. We knew we had to act.
We didn’t ask how many. Numbers didn’t matter—these cats had no other chance.
Seventeen cats were pulled out of what felt like a black hole and transported to Istanbul. Two of them, too fragile to hold on, passed away within days. The rest are in critical condition, requiring intensive care and a long road to recovery.
We don’t yet have “pretty” photos to share of this group. They are still healing, still fighting. But we promise—Kader will grow into strong, healthy, and beautiful cat. Because now, she is safe. And she is loved.
