Raise Awareness
Turkey, which was once a pioneer country for animal rights, is now largely turning its back on strays. Istanbul alone, known internationally as the “city of cats” and pictured as a sanctuary for strays in documentaries, has millions of cats and dogs barely surviving in the streets.
Due to the recent legislative changes, the situation for these animals has worsened significantly. Many municipal shelters, which should be safe havens, have instead become places where animals suffer violence and cruelty. In these shelters, animals are often killed or left to die in harsh conditions instead of receiving a humane end.
Worryingly, this cruelty isn’t limited to shelters. Ordinary citizens have also begun to mistreat stray animals, with some groups even sharing videos of their brutal actions on social media. This not only harms the animals but also encourages a broader acceptance of cruelty.
Sharing this message within your network and community will help grow international awareness and support for this urgent cause. Increased international pressure is vital in bringing about humane policy changes and accountability.

Adopt or Find Adopters
In these challenging times, Turkish stray animals are facing unprecedented hardships due to recent government decisions and harsh conditions in shelters. We urgently call on compassionate individuals to open their hearts and homes by adopting pets from Turkey.
Every adoption not only offers a second chance at life for these vulnerable animals but also sends a powerful message against cruelty. Your act of kindness can help transform lives, support local welfare efforts, and pave the way for a more humane future. Adopt from Turkey today and become a vital part of the movement for change.

Virtual Adoptions
For those who cannot physically adopt a pet but still want to make a difference, virtual adoption offers a meaningful alternative.
By virtually adopting a cat or dog, you contribute to their care by covering essential expenses such as food, medical treatment, and shelter. Beyond financial support, you become part of their journey, helping them transition from rescue to a safe and loving forever home.
Virtual adopters play a crucial role in the rescue process, ensuring that these animals receive the care and attention they need until they are fully rehomed. It’s a compassionate way to save a life and stay connected to their journey, even from afar.

01
Accompanying Animals on Flights:
When someone adopts a rescued pet from Turkey, the animal needs a flight companion to travel with it as checked baggage or in the cabin, depending on its size and the airline's policies.
03
Why It's Necessary:
Airlines generally require animals to be accompanied by a passenger on the international flights. Hiring a commercial pet transport service is often too expensive for many rescue organizations or adopters.
05
Requirements:
Volunteers only need to provide their flight details and ID info, as we handle everything else, including animal-related costs. A brief commitment is required at the airport to check the animal in and out.
02
Role of the Flight Volunteer:
We handle all the logistics, including booking the pet's spot on the flight, preparing paperwork, and arranging transportation to and from the airport. As a flight volunteer, you would meet the animal at the departure airport, ensure it is checked in properly, and pick it up upon arrival to deliver it to the adopter or a rescue partner.
04
Benefits:
The rescued pet gets a chance to start a new life in a loving home. The flight volunteer gets to help make a difference with minimal effort—they're simply utilizing the flight they were already planning to take.

It's a rewarding way for travelers to contribute to saving lives without altering their travel plans!
